Wide deserts of my land reflect my brain

Wide deserts of my land reflect my brain:
both team with busy opportunist ants,
reacting blindly to the daily strain
of coping with our world's inhabitants.
Pervading all. Australia's grand design
is enigmatic, timeless passive, rest;
while human genius battles mobs malign
for triumph of the universal best.
This red, expansive wilderness of sand;
this sempiternal order of the skies,
provokes, by contrast, thinking to expand:
enables truth to shine amongst dark lies.

It's here, in deserts, that we truly know
how far we've come: how far we have to go.
