Dear Richard
Many thanks for your kind words. I maintain quite a number of sites, but I'm assuming that you mean the Flight of Ducks [htttp://www.duckdigital.nt/FOD]. If so, I'd be keen to know what part of the site you found of interest. Over the last 10 years the site has grown quite large and covers a wide range of content. I'm attempting to re-conceptualise the Flight of Ducks and it would be very useful to know what to concentrate on.
Is Sanani in Zambia?
Best wishes

Dear h.barry
Not quite sure why you have sent this message to me. Do you want it published on the Flight of Ducks?
http://www.duckdigital.net/FOD/
Over the years the site has received a number of emails that express deep intercultural frustrations. I'd be interested to know why you feel so strongly about this. Have you had some personal experience that you'd like to share?
Best wishes

Dear Rogi
How very kind of you to send such a message. I'm please to say that the Flight of Ducks is alive and well (although a little messy) at:
http://www.duckdigital.net/FOD/
If you are interested in digital preservation, there is a short paper specifically about some of the challenges that the FOD has faced at:

Dear Caroline
#amp; Is the website Flight of Ducks regarding your father- was he an Ophthalmologist?
Yes it is and he was. His father Guy Antill Pockley and his grandfather Francis Antill Pockley wer also ophthalmic surgeons. As I child I used to watch him operate early on Sunday mornings at St Vincents Hospital in Sydney. Of course, I did not appreciate that what I was seeing would soon disappear.
He fought losing battle against the forces that wanted to dismantle the honorary system. He knew that few could afford paid surgery (in public hospitals) and that government intervention would lead to the destruction of the great teaching hospitals.
Ironically, a degenerative eye condition runs through members of the family who take up ophthalmology. And although they both excelled as surgeons, my father and his father Guy took up ophthalmic surgery for unusual reasons.
They were both happiest later in life when they found other callings. My grandfather Guy went on the land and built up a successful Merino and Poll Hereford stud near called Pylara. In order to build an inner life, my father taught himself Ancient Greek and learnt Homer's Iliad off by heart (which he used to sing).

I guess this is more information than you wanted.

Dear [content suppressed]
No problem. I have removed all mention of your name and affilliation from conversation recorded on August 5th 2000 in the Flight of Ducks (live site).
Please check for yourself:
http://www.duckdigital.net/FOD/FOD0953.html
http://www.duckdigital.net/FOD/FOD0954.html
I can't find any other instances in the live site.
However, you should be aware that the site is regualry archived by the National Libaray of Australia and is also available from various archives that are outside of my control. Proliferation has been my primary archival strategy. This means that your message can be accessed through the captures at:
http://pandora.nla.gov.au/tep/10245
Please let me know if I can help in any other way.
Best wishes

Dear Jane
Thanks you for your message. I'm very interested in all Tjurunga (Churinga).
Do you know anything about the circumstances in which it was given to your grandfather?
Would you be able to describe it in more detail? Is it stone or wood? Is it painted?
Best wishes
Simon
Dear Craig
No I'm not anything to do with the Jung Soc. Way back in 2001, someone called Fergus McDour sent me (The Flight of Ducks - a web site) some stuff about the Sugarman project. Various people have been asking me about how to contact you ever since.
http://www.duckdigital.net/FOD/FOD0989.html#McDour1
Most recently, I had a request from the UK and looked you up on the web. I thought I should pass on the request (and my reply) so that you could see who wants to contact you. Just by way of transparency.
Best wishes

Dear Auguste
I am no expert in these matters. However, if you can get hold of a copy of Spencer and Gillen's 'The Arunta' you will find a description and a photograph of the Quabara Iruntarinia Irritcha ceremony of the Eagle Hawk totem - page 243.
I would expect that there would be considerable sensitivity associated with the unauthorised use of the term Irritcha (eagle hawk). The notion of dreaming is more of a non-aboriginal idea that actually came from Baldwin Spencer. If you want authorisation, it all depends on your purpose and who you know.
Sorry to be of so little help. It's their culture you are appropriating, best to approach the Arrernte. If you don't have a contact then, the official procedure, is to work through the Central Lands Council.
Best of luck.
Simon
