Dear Mr Pockley,
Project 28/97: The Flight of Ducks Thank you for your email yesterday and for agreeing to remove, or block access to, the material from the RMIT server (Minyos), pending permission relating to the material from an appropriate Aboriginal organisation.
I had been under the impression that your work came from a server outside RMIT, at Cinemedia. If so, it would assist if you could block access to the material on that site also. I believe the Committee is concerned with the public availability of the material. You mention that the material is now on other sites which are not under your control (National Library of Australia/Hyperwave Browser); is it available freely to the public via these sites?
I believe the task is to find a way of acting which respects the ideas of right conduct of both value systems.
Assoc Prof Erica Hallebone has been in touch with me and we have agreed that we continue with the arrangement for you and your supervisors to speak with the Committee on Wednesday, 29th April 1998. Please could you submit the formal application for Human Research Ethics Committee approval to me by 15th April 1998. The computer disk with the application form on it should be available from Ms Anna Solomun on the Faculty of Art, Design and Communication, or I have a copy I can lend you. I have copies of the Information Package if you need another paper copy.
I have already received a letter from Margaret Phillips of the Australian National Library and I will circulate it with your application in the agenda papers for the meeting of the Committee on 29th April. I enclose a copy of this letter.
Yours sincerely
Adrienne Patterson,
